Theoni Stathopoulou

Theoni Stathopoulou is a sociologist. Research Director at the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE) in Athens, Greece. She serves as the alternate representative of the European Statistical Advisory committee (ESAC) on the Hellenic Statistical System Advisory Committee and she is a core member of the National Coordinating team of the European Social Survey (ESS-ERIC).

She has participated in various international and national research projects and was recently awarded an EEA Grant for research on “Health inequalities among migrant population” in Greece. She has also completed the first survey in refugee population in Greece in collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and conducted a pilot survey on Unaccompanied Minors in collaboration with the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma.

Her main research interests include survey methodology, computational social science, religion, migration and social movements. Her work is featured in Ashgate, Cambridge Scholars Publishers, Springer, and McGill University press.
